Tenant training grant

One of our tenants has successfully completed an MSc in Health Psychology at Thames Valley University. While she was studying she was helped with a £500 grant from our training bursary. We are looking for tenants who might benefit from help with fees and the grant can also be used for incidental expenses such as childcare, travel, books and equipment.

If you can make use of this grant please contact Blue Star House and ask for an application form.

Our new Chair Dr Christina Townsend

Dr Townsend was appointed as our new Chair at this year's AGM. She is the Efficiency Director for the Tribunals Service and has over 20 years' experience in the public and charity sectors. She is also a Trustee of Volunteer Reading Help, a member of the Training and Membership Policy Committee of the RICS and a member of Southwark Primary Health Care Trust. She has recently been appointed as a magistrate.

Tenants’ Panel - get involved

Housing for Women's Tenants' Panel is one of the ways you can get involved in influencing what goes on in the Association. It is open to all tenants of Housing for Women.

The Chair and Vice Chair are tenants elected by other tenants on the Panel and it meets quarterly on Saturday mornings at our offices in Brixton. All travel and child care costs are met by the Association.

Housing for Women want to encourage a broad representation of tenants and particularly welcome any tenants who have disabilities and those with children.

The Panel has looked at various issues including:

  • Anti Social Behaviour
  • Complaints
  • Rent arrears protocol

The Panel also produced a Christmas newsletter.

This is your chance to get involved. Ring the office for further details on 0207 501 6120 if you are interested.
