older women's cohousing |
|
Older Women's Cohousing (OWCH) was set up in 1998 by a group of eight women inspired by a 'living group' model in the Netherlands. Cohousing is a way of living as a group where members can enjoy all the companionship, activities and support that a group can offer, while still preserving their own private space and independence. This particular iinitiative for women aged from their early fifties to seventies is currently looking for a suitable site in London where members of the group can run their own housing scheme according to their own philosophy and rules. CoHousing and Housing for Women feature in Lords’ debate! On I December 2003, Baroness Wilkins of Chesham Bois raised the issue of CoHousing during the debate on the Queen’s Speech. She referred to the project that Housing for Women is jointly undertaking with the Older Women’s CoHousing Group (OWCH) and raised a number of questions for the Minister. The full text of her speech can be found in Hansard, the official report of the House of Lords. |
